codes. To ensure that your personnel use the correct codes, refer to Appendix D
of this subcourse. Depending on the kind of cargo being shipped, some cargo may
have more than one trailer line entry. If any discrepancies surface during your
review, make corrections or recommend changes to your personnel.
ELECTRICALLY TRANSMITTED MESSAGE (ETM) TCMD
The ETM is prepared on DD Form 173 and is the preferred method when there are no
punch card capabilities available.
It is a quick and efficient means of
transmitting TCMD data.
Prime Data
Ensure that your personnel list the prime data on the first two lines of the ETM,
separating each entry with slash marks (/). Check to see that the first line of
entries ends with a slash mark and the second line with an ampersand (&).
Now, review the entered data and ensure it is correct. Refer to Figure 1-4 to
see where and what information is listed in Line 1 and Figure 1-5 for information
listed in Line 2.
Trailer Line Data
After reviewing the first two lines, you must then review the remaining lines.
These lines list the trailer line data. Ensure that the end of a line of trailer
line data ends with an ampersand (&)(see Figure 1-6). You must also ensure that
the format of the data is correct. When reviewing the trailer line data, refer
to Appendix D to ensure that your personnel have used the correct codes.
If any discrepancies surface during your review, make corrections or recommend
changes to your personnel.
