Trailer Line Data
Frequently, the prime shipment unit data (prime data) does not reveal all the
information that is needed to properly manage the shipment. Information entered
in columns 32 through 44 of the manual TCMD is called trailer line entries or
trailer line data. Certain types of shipments require trailer line entries with
very specific information about the cargo.
Keep in mind that some information
entered into the trailer line columns does not always relate to the column name;
the trailer line sections provide room for the necessary information which
doesn't always fit neatly into the categories printed on the form.
When
reviewing the bottom portion, ensure that your personnel have entered the correct
information in these columns.
Various shipments require different trailer line
entries.
When in doubt of the correct entries, refer to Appendix D of this
subcourse.
Ensure that your personnel know that they must answer two questions before making
an entry in the trailer line part of the TCMD:
Does this particular kind of shipment need trailer line information?
If trailer line data is needed, which TCMD columns need to be completed
and what information must be inserted in the columns?
After answering these questions, your personnel must extract the correct data
from the shipment planning worksheet (SPWS) and enter this data in the TCMD
trailer line section; however, before entering the SPWS data on the TCMD, ensure
that your personnel change, transfer, or translate the data into MILSTAMP
