vehicle operations.
Snow, rain, sleet, and ice seriously
affect vehicle traction, handling, and stopping.
Under bad
weather conditions, you may load the vehicles to less than
capacity. There are no set rules or guidelines governing this
situation. You must use common sense and good judgment.
Now let's put into practice everything we have just discussed about
oversized
or
overweight
vehicles.
Remember,
to
identify
oversized/overweight cargo, you must know the length, height, width,
axle load, and gross weight of all vehicles to be used. Suppose you
are assigned to a medium truck company stationed at Fort Eustis.
Your unit is to transport general cargo from Fort Eustis, Virginia,
to Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia, to support training using 5-ton tractors
and 12-ton semitrailers.
The route to be followed lies entirely
within the state of Virginia.
