position of the DIC will contain a code from the right column of the
chart in Appendix A. When using the manual cargo manifest format, the
third character will be the alphabetic code indicated in the right
column on the same line as the corresponding code for the TCMD. For
example, if the third character of the DIC for the advance TCMD is 0,
then the code for the third position of the DIC for the ocean manifest
will be "J." If the code for the third character for the advance TCMD
is a "5," then the code for the third character for a cargo manifest
will be "N." This code is taken from Block 1 of the TCMD.
Column 2 - The next column is marked Vehicle Trailer or Cntnr Number. This entry
should be the same as Blocks 2 and 33 of the TCMD. For example, if
Block 2 or Block 33 of the TCMD is "00000", then Column 2 of the cargo
manifest should also be "00000" (see Appendix A, Section II).
Column 3 - This six-digit column is marked Yr-Make/Cntnr Number/Commdty Descrip.
It is used for varying information depending on the type of shipment.
For example:
If the DIC in Column 1 is T-J, this column should show the water
commodity abbreviation for the cargo (see Appendix A, Section III).
If the DIC in Column 1 is T-K, this column should show the
MILVAN/SEAVAN owner abbreviation and size of container (see Appendix
A, Section V).
If the DIC in Column 1 is T-L, this column should show the water
commodity abbreviation of the shipment unit, consolidated in the
CONEX or unitized pallet load, having the greatest volume (see
Appendix A, Section III).
If the DIC in Column 1 is T-M, this column should show the water
commodity abbreviation of the shipment unit (see Appendix A, Section
III).
If the DIC in Column 1 is TVN, this column should show the model
number of the government vehicle, wheeled trailer, gun, or aircraft.
This will usually be the same as the entry shown in Block 34 of the
TCMD for the same shipment.
