PART A - SUPERVISE THE PREPARATION
OF TCMD FORMATS
The TCMD is the basic MILSTAMP document.
It provides the data necessary to
effectively manage a shipment of cargo throughout its transportation cycle.
Inform your personnel that the TCMD is prepared in three formats: a punch card
TCMD, an electrically transmitted message (ETM), and the hard Copy or manual TCMD
format. The same data is entered on all three forms.
PUNCH CARD TCMD
The punch card TCMD (see Figure 1-1) is the preferred format.
Both the
transporting and receiving activities use this form when they have the capability
of processing punch card data.

ELECTRICALLY TRANSMITTED MESSAGE (ETM) TCMD
The ETM is prepared on DD Form 173/3 (OCR) Joint Message form (see Figure 1-2).
