EXAMINE THE PROPOSED ROUTE
A unit's ability to move cargo and personnel to any point in an area
of operations can, in some cases, affect the outcome of a combat
operation.
The thoroughness of a route reconnaissance is often the
decisive factor in whether or not cargo and personnel arrive safely
and on time at their destination.
A route reconnaissance means to
survey a route that is to be used by a motor movement. HTH personnel
usually perform this survey to collect data about the proposed route.
They will then send you this data in the form of an operations order.

Conditions of roadways. Routes should be primary-type, paved
