loaded vehicles and thus may require engineer support to
reinforce them (see Figure 2-1).
Look for suitable bypasses.
However, if the convoy's vehicles greatly outclass the bridge,
the selection of another route may be necessary.
To determine
if a bridge with weight restrictions accommodates the vehicles
in your convoy, follow these steps:

Compare the weight classification of the heaviest
vehicle with the classification of the bridge.
(This
classification number is NOT the actual weight of the
vehicle on the bridge.)

If the classification number on the heaviest vehicle in
the convoy outclasses the number on the bridge, you will
have to select another route or a bypass that will
accommodate such vehicles. The classification number on
the
front
of
combination
vehicles
(such
as
tractor/trailers)(see Figure 2-2) will not necessarily
be the total of the two components, but this is the one
that is used to determine the classification.
