Table III. Tie Spacing on One Commercial Railroad
Military railroads constructed by the Corps of Engineers have tie spacing as shown in
table IV. Note that the last 60 feet of any spur takes fewer ties per rail. When transportation
personnel are required to operate previously existing railroads in a theater of operations, such
high standards of construction may not be found.
