Ridges and Spurs
A ridge is a line of high ground or a chain of hills or mountains. A
spur is usually a short, continuously sloping line of ground which
normally juts or projects out from the side of a ridge.
The
potential of a ridge being ambushed depends on--

On a map, the contour line for a ridge is a broken line following the
direction of the chain of hills, mountains, or elevated ground. The
same contour line used for hills indicates the presence of a hill or
