Breakdown of a Category.
Because certain types of cargo are not recommended for consolidation, they must
be identified when planning a shipment. Keep in mind the following items which
are incompatible:
Items subject to commercial domestic movement having different freight
ratings (classification codes).
Items incompatible with other items because of physical size or shape.
Class A, B, and C ammunition and explosives.
Project material having different project codes.
Radioactive or magnetic material.
EXPEDITED HANDLING requisitions (code 99 in the RDD block).
Unlike perishable commodities (potatoes and onions) and commodities with
unlike keeping qualities (eggs and oranges).
You will need to be particularly concerned with hazardous cargo and materials.
You must ensure that these items are not loaded, transported, or stored together.
Hazardous materials include explosives, flammable liquids and solids, corrosive
materials, compressed gases, poisons, and radioactive materials. Your personnel
must prepare these materials for shipment according to TM 38-250 and CFR 49.
