Normally, acceleration lanes are provided at rest halt areas to
facilitate the merging of departing vehicles with other vehicles. To
exit an expressway, either to enter a rest area or to take another
route, ensure that vehicles move to the deceleration lane at the
earliest opportunity and reduce speed to the exit ramp speed limit.
Vehicles must not slow down or close up while in a traffic lane of
the expressway (see Figure 3-6).
