The
security
service
requirements
for
arms,
and
explosives (AA&E) are determined by a categorization defined by DOD
Manual 5100.76.
There are four major categories of AA&E.
Examples
of each category are described in extracts of the Transportation
Security Guide in Appendix B.
The minimum security service
requirements for various shipments of the categories of arms,
Category I
For truckload shipments of Category I AA&E the following requirements
apply:
Security Escort Vehicle Service (SEVS).
Exclusive use of vehicle.
Vehicle must be locked and sealed by the shipper.
Trip lease may not be used.
Single-line haul is required.
When two or more vehicles are in convoy, drivers must be in
sight of other vehicles at all times.
Convoy will require
only a single escort vehicle.
Stop off in transit authorized.
For less-than-truckload shipments of Category I AA&E, the following
requirements apply:
Armed Guard Surveillance (AGS).
SEVS.
Exclusive use of vehicle.
Vehicle must be locked and sealed
by
the
shipper
unless
shipment requires open equipment.
