The first step in preparing a traffic circulation plan is identifying and interpreting
military symbols. Military symbols are graphic aids accurately identifying items
of operational interest. These symbols make maps and other data easy to read by
condensing a log of information into small spaces. These symbols also simplify
the process of collecting and disseminating highway information.
